My name is Michael Gerity. I do a lot of civil litigation, trademark applications, copyright litigation on infringement for any intellectual property issue. I've been practicing law in the Phoenix area for the past 20 years, a very large percentage, somewhere around 70% of trademark applications, actually get initially declined by the Patent and Trademark Office. What's very important is that you are able to properly screen the marks before you ever file an application, or else you've thrown away money, both on attorneys' fees and your application fee that you're never going to get back. When people come seeking a trademark, or sometimes they think they're actually looking for a copyright or a patent, and what they're actually seeking is trademark, they don't always understand just how important registering your name and getting the protection for the name that you have can be towards building a brand and building your business.

What we do is to spend a lot of time with you. You actually get one-on-one conversation with me to vet your trademark application, get it right, and then I fill it out personally. One thing that's important to us is we don't want to be one of these cut rate trademark mills where you come in, you fill out a form online, you never talk to the attorney, you never get any one-on-one representation. We're there for you not just to establish the registration, but to build your business around that brand to protect it when other people try to infringe on it, and to help you to grow your business around a recognizable piece of property, which is your trademark. We're not just giving you a trademark and being done with you. We want to build a relationship with you.
