Sara Sturtevant is a licensed California attorney specializing in mediation and family law. She was the Associate Dean at Monterey College of Law and ran the school’s Practical Lawyering Program. Before joining Monterey College of Law, Sara worked at the court’s Self Help Center in Monterey. As an attorney and mediator, Sara believes that people have their own best solutions to any problem they face. This is as led her to help create programs in community mediation and self-help legal education to provide resources for people to access when facing legal problems. Sara believes that mediation should be the first choice in ending any relationship. While going to court may be necessary in a small percentage of cases, mediation is the best approach where parties wish to make certain they are able to determine what is best for their family. Sara was educated at New College of California’s School of Law, University of Houston, and Modesto Junior College.
