Shadi Shaffer focuses her practice on Estate Planning, Trusts, Probate and Trust Administration. Prior to her legal career, Attorney Shaffer had an extensive and diverse work history, which helped her gain skills that have proven invaluable to her legal practice.
Attorney Shaffer opened her own firm so she could protect families, children, and businesses from the CA Probate system and serve as an advocate to prevent clients from the court system. She started the Asset Protection & Elder Law Center over 15 years ago with her best friend (25 years and counting!) Patrick P. Phancao. We wanted to build a law firm that is focused on life long relationship with our clients where we can be there for them through all stages of their lives.
Since its formation, the Asset Protection & Elder Law Center and its staff have shown an uncompromising commitment to client service and responsiveness. Throughout its growth, Attorney Shaffer continues to provide individual attention, sound counsel, and cost effective representation. Our motto is: "To Educate, Motivate, and Protect" - something we have been doing successfully here for over 15 years :) Her warmth and passion in estate planning has forged long-lasting relationships with her clients and their families - many of whom regard her as counsel and friend.
Attorney Shaffer is active in the local community and does a lot of charitable giving through legal work, donations, and volunteer time. She was a Big Sister for Big Brothers Big Sisters OC and has been on the Board of Stand Up for Kids OC for over 10 years. She loves helping homeless youth get off the streets and into safe homes where they can get back on track with their life and have a support system to help them succeed. She is a self made entrepreneur who is truly passionate about helping others - she is not your typical attorney and your experience with her, Patrick and the entire Asset Protection & Elder Law team will renew your faith in attorneys!

http://apelcenter.com/ In this segment/video, Attorney Shaffer (or Shadi) explains in simple terminology the key people or circumstances that requires a person to need a Trust. She explains the criteria of who needs a Trust in California. How every state in the nation had different probate and estate laws and rules. Shadi explains briefly how any of the following people require a Trust: people who own real property in California, business owners and/or their partners, individuals with minor children, and/or anyone who has assets that total more than $150,000. If any of these apply to you then you need to have a Trust in order to avoid your estate from going through the Probate Court system and to have your affairs managed as you wish. http://youtu.be/0lN-5V2exKI
