You might find it helpful when selecting a lawyer to know a bit about them. You probably know all lawyers have to graduate from law school, but beyond the basics, who are they? As for me, you should know that I'm married to my wife Joan, and I have five children. They are all hard working, and each had their turn cleaning my Orlando office growing up. They are and will remain the most important part of my life. They are the lights of my life.
I met my wife Joan at a Methodist church picnic. We were married in that church and still attend today. My work ethic and that which I impart on my children and my staff was developed by my parents while growing up on a dairy farm in upstate New York where I worked for my Dad and Grandfather, (A fun fact about me is that in addition to farm work, my brothers and I had a paper route, delivering for the Syracuse Herald Journal 7 days a week.) I have also served in the United States Army, worked for two Members of Congress and have practiced law in Central Florida for over 27 years, representing thousands of consumers in large and small, simple and complex legal cases in Florida, New York, District of Columbia, Georgia and Michigan.
I am extremely proud of the outstanding team I recruited and in most cases trained since they were undergraduates. I truly believe that hiring people smarter than you is one of the best ways to to build a law practice. My team of lawyers handle cases as diverse as personal injury, workers compensation, disability, probate and family law. We have recovered millions on behalf of our clients and one of the first things you hear in our office is "How can we help?"

By now, you've probably seen attorney advertisements and commercials touting how much $$$ someone received for settlement of their personal injury case.
But, these screaming headlines rarely reveal the dirty little secret nobody wants to talk about: these ads only reveal the amount of money recovered by the lawyer, not the amount that the client received.

Veteran attorneys, Wade Coye and Dan Smith from the Coye Law Firm, discuss the basic dos and don'ts about depositions and how to properly respond to questions asked.
Offices in Orlando, Florida.
Transcript:
Wade: "Let's talk a little bit about some of the basic dos and don'ts about depositions, and, you know, depositions will usually start out and the defense lawyer will or the opposing party will give some basics about, "just answer the question and not to nod your head and so on." Let's talk about some of the basics like, "just answer the question that you've been asked and not to expand upon that," and why those things are important for people to know that."
Dan: "Sure, and actually, a lot of times a person taking the deposition really wants you to adhere to that rule too. And that's the most important rule. Only answer the question asked. I always tell people, "Look, if I ask you what you did on Tuesday, don't tell me, well I think what I did was I walked the dogs cause I remember on Monday I went bowling, and on Wednesday..." And by virtue of answering the question that way, what you've done is you've over explained. And you may give them information that they may not have ever asked you about. What we typically find out, just to expand upon that, the reason why people do that in a deposition, sometimes it might be nerves like you mentioned, but really most people who've been injured we find are typically over honest about things. That's the first first time that they get to prove their case, so they want to tell everybody everything. But the reality is if the case happens to go to trial, and we have to try the case, we get to put that person on, so they'll be plenty of times to explain about your case, but your deposition, believe it or not, is just not that time. So one of things is, just keep it very short. And the person taking the deposition will appreciate that because they've done thousands of these depositions, and they will like keeping it to what they asked the question about. And then, if there's something they want to follow up on, they'll ask it. That's what they're trained to do. And we, as the representatives of the person having their deposition taken, wouldn't want them to reveal something that shouldn't be revealed."
