With 30 years of experience in representing clients, Timothy McCarthy knows how to take on the most challenging cases and proactively defend his clients in every situation. His path toward his legal career started after receiving his B.A. from Drake University. He studied law at Drake University's Law School and earned his Juris Doctor in 1983. Since graduating, his has become licensed to practice not only in Iowa, but also in the U.S. District Court in the Northern and Southern Districts of Iowa, the U.S. Court of Appeals, the Eighth Circuit Court and the U.S. Supreme Court.
Now, Timothy McCarthy is a founder and partner at his own firm, McCarthy & Hamrock, P.C. He represented clients in West Des Moines and the surrounding areas when they face charges such as DUI, drug offenses, or white collar crimes. He is experienced in federal charges, and is able to represent clients that face these serious offenses as well. He believes in keeping open communication with each client so they can feel confident through each step of the daunting criminal justice process.
Timothy McCarthy continues to increase his knowledge of his field and stay up to date on current issues as a member of legal associations including the Iowa Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, NORML, the Polk County Bar Association, and Phi Alpha Delta. He has also served as a teacher at Drake University's Trial Advocacy Institute, and continues to speak at criminal law seminars.
