Shane Sandefer is a partner in the Baton Rouge office of Kean Miller. He practices in the business transactions and environmental law groups and is a Registered Professional Engineer. Shane represents local, regional, and national clients in a variety of real estate, finance, and environmental matters including, industrial and commercial real estate transactions, title insurance matters, general preparation and negotiation, regulatory proceedings, wetlands permitting, wetlands mitigation, and state and federal environmental advice. Prior to law school, Shane was a project engineer for Turner Environmental and a senior staff engineer for URS. He also served as an assistant project manager for Cajun Constructors and worked in the Hazardous Waste Enforcement group at the Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality.
Shane counsels industrial and commercial clients on such matters as sales, leases, property law, purchase and sale agreements, environmental assessments, and wetlands issues. Additionally, his practice involves most aspects of environmental regulatory law, including permitting, compliance, enforcement and transactional issues, as well as environmental litigation matters.
As a Registered Professional Engineer, he assisted various municipal, commercial, and industrial clients with environmental permitting, wetlands permitting, solid and hazardous waste management and remediation, environmental sampling, geotechnical engineering design, geotechnical investigations, watershed modeling, and hydraulic design.
Shane earned his B.S. in Civil Engineering from Louisiana State University in 1995. He earned his M.S. in Civil Engineering, concentrating on Geotechnical and Environmental Engineering, from Louisiana State University in 1998. Shane earned his J.D. and his B.S. in Civil Law in 2005 from the LSU Law Center where he served as Vice President of the Environmental Law Society and was a member of the Order of the Coif and Phi Alpha Delta.
