This week, Wes brings his family's jambalaya recipe with him to the set of Good Day Cenla. Wes shares his love of cooking with Mark Hamblen as he preps the ingredients. Growing up in a traditional rural Louisiana home, food was important to his family and they often spent their meals around the dinner table. Food is what brings his family together for quality time and enjoying each other's company. Our firm gets many requests from nonprofit organizations to purchase plate lunches or their fundraisers, and when determining how best to help the community through these lunches, we decided to serve them to the faculty and staff of Rapides Parish. After all, cooking and serving a meal is important to Wes, and he thought it was the perfect way to show our appreciation for everything teachers do for our children. We're also able to help our local nonprofit organizations by purchasing the lunches through them. We've so far fed over 600 teachers, and plan to feed 1,000 by the end of 2019!
After the jambalaya was done, Wes served it to all of our friends at KALB for a delicious Cajun-style lunch!

On this week's episode of The Legal Difference, attorney Wes Gralapp talks about getting a rental car after your vehicle was damaged in an accident. He clarifies that you are entitled to a rental car after an accident. The at-fault party's insurance company owes a rental car to you if your car is damaged, and the rental should be"like-kind," or comparable to your own. If you don't need a rental car, you may be entitled to "loss of use." This compensation reimburses you for the days that you are without the use of your vehicle. Wes also discusses the steps of getting a rental car, and why rental insurance may not be the best choice for you. Wes tells us the length of time you are allowed to stay in a rental car, which is typically the length of time it takes for your vehicle to be repaired. Finally he shares that going through the insurance company to get a rental could be time-consuming, and an attorney may be able to get you in a rental car more quickly.

This week, attorney Wes Gralapp and employee Ashton talk about the firm's community involvement project, Feed the Teachers. This program's goal is to feed 1,000 teachers in Rapides Parish by the end of 2019. The firm purchases plate lunches from local nonprofit organizations when they have a fundraiser, and deliver the lunches along with some NBA goodies to a Rapides Parish school for the faculty and staff to enjoy. Wes shares the reason behind the lunches as well. The firm couldn't keep up with the many plate lunch requests received from so many outstanding organizations, so we decided to give them to the people who deserve them - teachers. Our teachers dedicate themselves to educating the next generation, and their efforts should be recognized. We wanted to make sure that each faculty member in our parish knows how much we appreciate them for the hard work they do in our communities and for our children. The program picks up again in Fall 2019 once school is back in session, and the firm will continue towards 1,000 teachers fed!

This week, attorney Wes Gralapp discusses compensation for injuries after an accident. This includes medical treatment, lost wages, and pain and suffering. Wes starts with medical treatment, and whether to seek a doctor after an accident. Our attorneys can also work with your doctor to ensure you are set up to receive treatment, as well as record-keeping of all appointments and procedures to aid in seeking compensation for the medical bills that can accumulate. You may also be compensated for lost wages if you cannot return to work due to your injuries. Future loss of wages may also come into play, and our attorneys can also determine whether you are eligible for that type of compensation.
