Howlett "JR" Jackson was born and raised in Harford County. After graduating from Havre de Grace High School, JR attended Harford Community College. He went on to earn his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Paralegal Studies from Villa Julie College (now Stevenson University) where he graduated cum laude and was the captain of the men's volleyball team, as well as an active member of various campus community groups. JR then obtained his Juris Doctorate Degree from the University of Baltimore.

While in law school, JR worked as a paralegal in the areas of insurance defense litigation and later was an important member of the HDH staff as the paralegal to Timothy Howie, Esq. During this time JR gained experience in the personal injury arena and his customer service skills made him a client favorite. Upon graduation, JR worked as an associate attorney for Joyce Smithey, Esq., the co-author of Maryland's Employment Law Handbook, in her employee-focused employment law practice. JR then returned to HDH as their newest associate. He currently maintains a legal practice with concentrations in Plaintiff's personal injury matters, including car accidents, and insurance defense matters.

JR is a member of both the Maryland State Bar Association and the Maryland Association for Justice.

In his free time, JR enjoys indoor volleyball, and is both a coach and an avid player. Volleyball has allowed him to travel to Curacao, Brazil, and all over the United States.
