Jeremy Belanger is an attorney in our Health Care Practice and his practice focuses on business arrangements, employment contracts, and regulatory compliance for physicians, dentists, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, pharmacists, and others. Jeremy is a member of the Health Care Compliance Association and Certified in Healthcare Compliance, a rigorous training and review process requiring 20 credits in compliance and a minimum of 1,500 hours in direct compliance practice. He has worked on Federal qui tam cases involved the Anti-kickback, 42 U.S.C. § 1320a-7b, and the Stark Law, 42 U.S.C. § 1395nn. Jeremy successfully argued a case before the Michigan Court of Appeals reversing an order by the Bureau of Professional Licensing. Recently, Jeremy was able to obtain reinstatement for a physician with a mandatory exclusion from billing Federal health care programs by the OIG.
Jeremy worked for the Office of the General Counsel for the University of Michigan Health System. While there, Jeremy worked on a wide range of Healthcare related issues. Primarily, he worked on regulatory and compliance issues, including issues with the Stark Law and the Anti-Kickback Statute, as well as numerous Medicare and Medicaid issues. While there, he worked on several strategic transactional affiliations, where he performed due diligence review and reviewed merger agreements and other contractual agreements. He also conducted worked on antitrust, medical malpractice, the Michigan Medical Marihuana Act, and cryopreservation issues.
Jeremy worked for the U.S. Attorney’s Office. While there, he worked on a variety of cases, including the Federal Tort Claims Act and False Claims Act. He also worked with the Healthcare Fraud Unit, assisting the unit in bringing both criminal and civil claims. Jeremy L. Belanger is a graduate of Michigan State University College of Law, graduating Magna Cum Laude.
