Specializing in business transactions, insurance regulation, and estate planning, formation and administration, Michael Kuzma joined Johnson, Flodman, Guenzel & Widger in 2014. Before joining the firm, Mr. Kuzma was a business attorney at the State of Nebraska Department of Economic Development Office of International Trade and Investment (NDED) where he managed the state’s Japanese business relationships and foreign trade office in Tokyo. Mr. Kuzma graduated from the University of Nebraska Law School where he was awarded a David L. Boren NSEP Fellowship to study international business law at Temple University Beasley College of Law in Tokyo. Mr. Kuzma shares his business knowledge and experience by teaching Business Law II and International Business Transactions at Nebraska Wesleyan University to upper class and Master in Business Administration (MBA) students.

1. Drafted and administered Nebraska’s 2011 and 2012 US Small Business Administration State Trade and Export Program (STEP) Grant and International Market Access Grant funds. 2. Negotiated and drafted agreement between the Shanghai Small and Medium Enterprise Center, signed by Governor Heineman that established the Nebraska Center in China; administered the office’s federal and state funding. 3. Advised Kawasaki parts supplier, in Japanese, on incorporation in Nebraska, incentive tax credits and L-1A visa issues. 4. Manage and advise the Nebraska Center Representative Office in Tokyo; administer the office’s federal and state funding. 5. Provide export counseling to NDED clients with an emphasis on exports to Asia.
