Under Partner Rubin Sinins and Attorney/Of Counsel Herb Waldman, Mr. Deraney, Esq. was Third-seat for criminal trial and retrial in the US v. Jackson, in Federal District Court of New Jersey. Case involved child abuse, neglect, and endangerment. Responsibilities included legal research, file organization, client and counsel communication, case management, exhibit tracking, and in court note taking for strategy. Mr. Deraney also made appearances in municipal and state superior courts for matters including a domestic violence, drug crimes, and a property dispute mediation. Also resolved a complex insurance agent malpractice case.

Zeki Electrical Management Services
Under President Eric Zekiroski, Mr. Deraney, Esq. wrote and review client electrical work proposals and electrician subcontractor purchase orders. He also, researched and conformed contracts to state laws and handle demand letters for any contract disputes. Mr. Deraney also located electrical licenses, work permits, and final inspections for each electrical subcontractor and orchestrated national rollouts inc. Starbucks La Boulange Bakery, Victoria’s Secret, & IKEA among others.

The Office of Harvey A. Silverglate
Under Harvey Silverglate and Daniel Schwartz, Mr. Deraney, Esq. conducted legal research for articles for Forbes and other outlets regarding civil liberties issues including: A recent 11th Circuit ruling on the 5th Amendment privilege against Self-Incrimination, The legal battle between Ireland and Boston College over educational surveys of the IRA, and New York City’s Gun Control laws and the TSA airport arrest loophole.

Under Attorney Stanley King, Mr. Deraney, Esq. conducted legal research on the complex issue of compensation for wrongful imprisonment and drafted an in-depth series of memorandums outlining the NJ Mistaken Imprisonment Act, other comparable state and federal acts, and the underlying relevant common law. Mr. Deraney also drafted a successful Motion in Opposition to a Summary Judgment Motion discussing an undecided issue within the state, cited persuasive authorities, and weighed on minimal interpretations by lower court judges

Under Hon. Michael L. Ravin and Hon. Alfonse Cifelli, Mr. Deraney, Esq. Prepared, most notably, a decision on a Municipal Appeal on a DWI case which set precedent in New Jersey regarding proper equipment used and procedure, along with judicial opinions on Motions to Dismiss, a Motion to Change Custody, and a bench memo on a Motion to Suppress. He also drafted sentencing recommendations after calculating relevant state law, criminal history of the defendant, and observed many trials and hearings involving both criminal and civil cases.
