Noriana's December 19, 2016 Press Conference Announcing UConn Lawsuit
This is where Noriana Radwan had her voice initially restored on December 19, 2016, announcing that she was filing a federal lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the District of Connecticut against her alma mater, the University of Connecticut, her former UConn head soccer coach, Len Tsantiris, the former UConn athletic director who is now athletic director at his alma mater, the University of Michigan, where he enjoyed a four-year football scholarship, Warde Manuel, and finally, the UConn director of student financial aid, Monica Lucas. She also took the opportunity to speak directly to the UConn administration, faculty and students of the Husky nation, apologizing for the misunderstanding.
The lawsuit alleges violation of NCAA By-Laws, U.S. Title IX and U.S. Constitutional rights. It aims to open the door for other student-athletes -- particularly at UConn -- who may be unaware of these rights and want to pursue their own grievances and justice. Noriana does not want what happened to her to happen to any other student-athletes.
Court case documents and status for Radwan v. UConn et al. can found online at the following Public Access to Court Electronic Records (PACER) system under USDC D.Conn Docket No. 3:16-cv-02091.
