Angela's colleagues say that she's aggressive. But Angela McIlveen says that she's just passionate about her clients. Whether Angela is in or out of the courtroom, she gives it her all.

Alimony in North Carolina - How Much? http://www.mcilveenfamilylaw.com (704) 557-0131
Frequently when I meet with people who are the primary income earners of the family, the person who makes the most money, they ask, "Am I going to be paying alimony and how am I going to have to pay?"
Well, the question of "Will you have to pay alimony?" depends on a number of circumstances, including income differences, whether either person has been involved in an affair, or the amount of money you have left over after you pay for bills. It's kind of a complicated answer.
However, the question of how much you're going to have to pay, you think there might be a calculator formula in child support but in alimony there's not. There is no calculator to tell us exactly the amount you're going to pay. What I tell people is that we pick a number out of the sky, and that's the number the alimony gets determined. That's how we decide.
In reality, what really happens is you're going to fill out an affidavit, you're going to talk about your bills, and how much it costs you to live. Your spouse is going to fill out his or her affidavit and talk about how much it's going to cost them to live. Then the judge is going to look at both those numbers and see how much you can afford to pay and how much the other spouse needs, and that's the number that's going to get decided on. More importantly, you can always decide the number yourself as well and you don't have to let a judge decide. Really, it's your case and it's up to you how you want it to proceed.

Charlotte Child Custody Attorney - Who Gets Custody? http://www.mcilveenfamilylaw.com (704) 557-0131
Every time I met with women in my office, the first thing they ask me is, "So I've been stay-at-home mom or I am highly involved with my children, so I'm going to be the one to get custody, right?" Well, this is somewhat true, and if you've listened to some of the other questions on here, one of the things I tell dads is, "Courts don't prefer moms."
However, the reason you see courts sometimes giving custody to moms over dads, is because moms spend more time at home with the children. What the courts do look at is what has been happening in your lives. Are you involved? Who takes the children to doctor's appointments? Who takes the children to school and back? Who goes to the PTA meetings or the parent-teacher conferences? If mom, you're the person who does that, then yes, it's likely a judge will give you more time or more custody with your children. Dad, if you're the one doing these things, it's very likely a judge is going to give you more time or more custody.
The judge is always looking for what's in the best interests of your child. Having said that, remember you don't have to let a judge decide. The two of you can decide together if you want to, and you can avoid the cost of litigation and the unnecessary pain that sometimes come with it. But if you need a lawyer and you need to go to court, we're here for you.
