Ohio Environmental Council
As an Attorney and Senior Director of Planning & Administration at the Ohio Environmental Council, Ms. Nagel manages administration, finance, grant-seeking, and strategic planning for this statewide environmental public policy organization. In this role, Ms. Nagel provides legal research and advice related to a range of legal needs, including issues related to charitable giving and events, contracts, employment, lobbying and electoral activity, organizational filings with the Ohio Secretary of State and other government agencies, and more. She also leads the implementation of the OEC’s Vision 2020 strategic plan, including working with the OEC’s Board of Trustees and staff to develop new programs and tools necessary to carry out goals and objectives. In addition, Ms. Nagel serves as liaison with the Board’s Strategic Planning Committee to develop and implement new organizational and Board initiatives; leads additional organizational development initiatives, including overseeing all professional development programs and varied senior management projects; oversees development of the organization’s intern and volunteer program, and supports fundraising and marketing functions, including Gala and other special event planning and execution; donor communications and appeal mailings; corporate giving; and communications materials development.

Ohio Environmental Council
In her role as Senior Director of Policy & Strategic Planning at the statewide public policy organization the Ohio Environmental Council (OEC), Ms. Nagel led strategic planning, provided administrative management for the Energy & Clean Air and Agricultural & Clean Water programs and the Ohio Environmental Law Center, worked on a variety of issue campaigns, and was a Governor-appointed member of the State Emergency Response Commission. Her work included managing the OEC’s role in the Ohio Green Pathways project in partnership with the Ohio Board of Regents, a project aimed at coordinating green jobs related training at Ohio’s public universities and community colleges. Work included facilitating the Ohio Green Pathways Advisory Board, a group appointed by the Chancellor of the Board of Regents. Ms. Nagel also presented on the project at the Good Jobs, Green Jobs conference in Washington, DC, the country’s leading green jobs conference. She also led the OEC’s participation in the Safer Chemical, Healthy Families Coalition aimed at reforming the Toxic Substances Control Act of 1976, which included federal lobbying, with particular outreach to Senators Brown and Portman. Ms. Nagel assembled teams of appropriate messengers to reach out to district and DC offices, recruited authors for op-eds and letters to the editor, gathered group signatures for sign-on letters to legislators, and issued action alerts around key votes and committee actions. Ms. Nagel also managed a grant from the Midwest Consortium for Hazardous Waste Worker Training at the University of Cincinnati designed to train citizen groups on environmental and health risks in their communities and appropriate responses posed by the storage or release of hazardous industrial chemicals. In this capacity, she presented at the 2012 National Institutes of Health Trainer’s Exchange conference on the OEC’s work on engaging minority communities through this grant.
