Living Together (Cohabitation) In Texas
Statistics show the number of marriages is significantly declining and those who do indeed marry are waiting longer to do it. On the other hand, the number of people living together(cohabitation) has grown dramatically. Nevertheless, about half of all marriages fail and likely more cohabitation arrangements. Living together breakups can be as acrimonious as a divorce. Those who are living should consider an agreement spelling out asset ownership in advance. attorney to understand their rights and responsibilities, to make better decisions. At the least, people living together should consult an attorney to understand their rights and responsibilities, should a breakup occur. Unlike marriage and divorce, where many laws and precedents governing their activities exist, cohabitation disputes are typically settled by local courts and judges. What is helpful to clients in Williamson and Travis counties is not only family law experience, but deep experience with the Williamson and Travis county courts, and familiarity with, and knowledge of, the judges who will make the rulings.http://www.pbrownlaw.com

Understanding Common Law Marriage in Texas
Common law marriages are recognized in only about 15 states, including Texas. Each state has unique criteria defining common law marriage. In Texas, couples in a common law marriage have exactly the same rights and responsibilities as "traditional" marriage. What is frequently debated among presumed common law partners is whether or not it is indeed a marriage. This is determined by local courts and judges. What is helpful to clients in Williamson and Travis counties is not only family law experience, but deep experience with the Williamson and Travis county courts, and familiarity with, and knowledge of, the judges who will make the rulings. This is an area which is not well understood. For example, you and your partner might already be married. Seek advice from an attorney or get informed so you can make better decisions regarding any non-marital relationship. Know your rights and respnsibilities. http://www.pbrownlaw.com
