I have been practicing law for over 35 years. In general, I specialize in consumer rights issues, helping people who were having problems with debt collectors, credit reports, predatory lending, and fraud.

Most of my work is representing people who have been treated unfairly by businesses. My clients have had problems with debt collectors, credit reporting agencies, banks and other lenders, car dealers, etc. Since 2003, I have been a member of the National Association of Consumer Advocates (NACA) (www.naca.net), the leading organization of consumer advocates in the country.

Charlottesville-Albemarle Legal Aid Society
I worked at Legal Aid in Charlottesville, Virginia, most of the years between 1977 and 1994. I served as a Staff Attorney (1977-79) and the Senior Staff Attorney (1984-87). From 1988 to 1994, I was the Executive Director. When I was not working at Legal Aid, I worked in private practice. I worked on cases involving the whole range of problems faced by Legal Aid clients, including public benefits, consumer rights, landlord/tenant and domestic relations.
