Buying an automobile is a big commitment, usually one of the biggest expenses an individual will incur. While cars always require regular maintenance, they're expected to perform as advertised without any major problems while they're relatively brand new.
When they fail to meet these expectations, they're called "lemons." State lemon laws require dealers and manufacturers to provide a refund or replacement vehicle if a lemon cannot be fixed to warranty standards within the time period specified by the statute.
